Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) spoofing or ARP poisoning is a spoofing attack that hackers use to intercept data.

Every computer in LAN keeping an ARP table for referencing IP to MAC mapping and transferring the data to destined computer.

ARP spoofing attack is executed by changing this MAC address in the ARP tables of both computer and router.

This is a kind of Man-in-the-middle attack, and communication between the user machine and router happens via the attacker machine in between.

Generally, attackers capture the transferred packets and let the normal operation happens without any disruption. Only user may experience the slowness in the network.

To avoid these attacks to happen with you, below are some guidelines

  1. Keep your network secure using WPA/WPA2 wireless security key.

  2. Do not let people to connect to your network unless you trust them.
